Second Nissan Grand Prix on July 7 at the ICAR Complex: Two Nissan Sentra Cup races and a multitude of activities for fans!
- Free admission for spectators attending the second edition Nissan Grand Prix and a multitude of activities for fans -
On Sunday, July 7, the second event of the 2024 Nissan Sentra Cup season will take place at ICAR Complex, the circuit on the tarmac of Montreal-Mirabel International Airport. This is a special event as it will take place during the Nissan Grand Prix. After the success of the inaugural Nissan Grand Prix in 2023, the second annual event promises to be just as exciting and uses the same formula: free admission and parking for all, a look at some of Nissan Canada’s all new models, multiple activities for fans and guests, in addition to two Nissan Sentra Cup races.
The series paddock will be open to all visitors, who will be able to meet the teams and their drivers. They will also be able to discover, for the first time in Canada, the all-new 2025 Nissan Kicks on static display in the main building, as well as the ARIYA (EV), LEAF (EV), Rogue and Z models.
This celebration of car enthusiasts and Nissan Canada's involvement in Canadian motorsports is offered to the public, whether they own a Nissan vehicle or not, and if the success of the 2023 edition is anything to go by, several thousand spectators will once again answer the call. For the Nissan Sentra Cup drivers, presenting their two races in front of a full crowd is a bonus, as races are always very competitive.
Winner of the second race of the season, at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park (Ontario) last May, Nicolas Barrette currently sits at the top of the drivers' championship. Tied in points with Daniel Fortin, Nicholas, the son of actor Michel Barrette, will try to get his first win of the season on Quebec soil to increase his lead at the top of the championship.
Defending champion and winner of the inaugural race, Alexandre Fortin, Daniel Fortin's son, will try to reduce the 14-point gap that separates him from his father and Barrette. Winner of two races held at the ICAR Complex last year, he is the favourite, along with Valérie Limoges, the 2022 series champion and currently fifth in the championship, one place behind Simon Vincent, the rally champion who started at the wheel of a Sentra Cup race just a year ago.
Twenty drivers will be at the start of these races, hopefully under the sun. Drivers will race the day before on ICAR’s concrete circuit for free practice as well as the qualifying of race 1. On Sunday, July 7, the first race will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:40 a.m., followed by qualification for the second race from 1 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. The start of the second race will take place at 3 p.m., again for 40 minutes of action.
Also of note, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. is the driver’s autograph session, as well as the parade of Z CLub Quebec and Club Nissan Quebec with GTRs (the two clubs will be on track together) during the day.
